Filariasis
Filariasis

At MES Foundation, we are committed to building healthier communities by raising awareness about preventable diseases like Filariasis, commonly known as Elephantiasis.

Filariasis is a serious disease caused by tiny worms transmitted through mosquito bites. These worms block the lymphatic system, causing swelling, pain, and disability.

  • Common symptoms include:
  • Swelling in legs, arms, or genital areas
  • Thickening of the skin (Elephantiasis)
  • Pain and discomfort
  • Fever and weakness
  • Filariasis not only affects physical health but also causes social and emotional suffering due to visible swelling and disability.
  • At MES Foundation, we work to:
  • Educate people about mosquito prevention and protection
  • Promote awareness about early detection and treatment
  • Encourage the use of mosquito nets and repellents
  • Guide affected individuals towards proper medical care

We especially focus on rural and underdeveloped areas where filariasis is more common due to lack of awareness and healthcare access.
